Unemployment Rate Up in Three-Fourths of N.C. Counties
Nearly three-quarters of North Carolina’s counties saw their unemployment rates increase in February, according to statistics released Wednesday by the state Employment Security Commission.

Every county in the Triangle had increased unemployment in February, according to the report.
Wake County's rate was 4 percent, up from 3.8 percent in January, while Durham County's was 4.3 percent, up from 4.2 percent. Cumberland County's rate was 5.7 percent, up from 5.6 percent.
Orange County continues to have the lowest unemployment rate at 3.6 percent, while Hyde County on the coast has the highest unemployment rate at 11.7 percent.
