Chapel Hill, N.C. — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and the Duke University Health System said Monday that they have reached a multi-year agreement for Duke's hospitals and clinics to remain part of Blue Cross' networks.
“We are pleased to continue our relationship with the Duke University Health System, as it is a testament to our commitment to ensuring the very best in quality care to Blue Cross members,” Blue Cross President and Chief Executive Bob Greczyn said in a statement. “With 3.6 million customers, we take our commitment to the region seriously and understand that access to quality health care is critical to every community.”
“This long-term agreement protects our community’s ability to access quality, compassionate care," Dr. Victor Dzau, president and CEO of Duke Health, said in the statement.
Last year, Duke Health provided care to more than 70,000 Blue Cross customers.
