Fayetteville, N.C. — Douglas Peters, a veteran Chamber of Commerce executive, is the new president and chief executive officer of the Cumberland County Business Council.
The council oversees economic development in Fayetteville and Cumberland County.
Peters replaces William Martin, who resigned at the board’s request last year. Martin left the post after four years in a dispute over the potential development of a $200 million ethanol fuel production plant by E85.
Named to the post on Friday, Peters comes to Fayetteville from the Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce in Ohio where he worked for 10 years. He has more than 23 years of experience in economic development.
