Cape Fear Valley Hospital to Cut Positions

Posted June 26, 2007

— Cape Fear Valley Health System will eliminate 86 positions in the next two weeks, according to hospital officials.

Despite the cutbacks, no one will lose a job, spokesman Clinton Weaver said.

Thirty positions already are vacant, and employees in the remaining positions slated to be cut will be given the option of accepting other jobs within the hospital system, Weaver said. Employees will be allowed to keep their existing jobs until new positions open up, he said.

Most of the eliminated positions are clerical and administrative and support staff.

In switching jobs, some employees could move to a higher pay grade and others could see their salaries drop remain the same, he said.

Employees who don't accept a different position will be given a severance package.

The moves are the result of lower revenue in the hospital system, Weaver said.

Lower Revenue my foot.. Ive seen the budget of one of our local hospitals and it was in excess of 54 MILLION dollars made in a month, but they showed on paper a 162,000 Loss for the month.. You tell me how you go from 54 million, to MINUS 162,000 in a month??? Something is funny about how they do paperwork, or WHAT they are reporting thats for sure!
