CARY, N.C. — Mark Bierley, chief financial officer at The Pantry (Nasdaq: PTRY) is leaving, the convenience store chain said Friday.

Bierley has accepted a position at a company in Michigan, which is where his family lives, and he will leave The Pantry as of May 25.

“Mark has made tremendous contributions as CFO of the company and will be missed," said Chief Executive Officer Dennis Hatchell in a statement. "However, we understand his desire to return to his home and family in Michigan and wish him success in his new position.”

Corporate controller Berry Epley will assume the CFO duties on an interim basis, the company said.

Hatchell was named CEO in February.

The Pantry operates 1,611 stores across 13 states.
