FirstHealth names new CEO

An Ohio health care executive was named Thursday as the new chief executive of FirstHealth of the Carolinas.

PINEHURST, N.C. — An Ohio health care executive was named Thursday as the new chief executive of FirstHealth of the Carolinas.

David Kilarski, 55, will success FirstHealth CEO Charles Frock, who is retiring, on Nov. 1.

Kilarski is the president and CEO for two health system hospitals in Ohio within the Cleveland Clinic Health System. He has more than 20 years of experience as a health care executive, including leadership roles in community hospitals, academic medical centers and multi-hospital systems.

"Dave was the unanimous choice for the CEO position,” Alex Bowness, chairman of the FirstHealth Board of Directors, said in a statement. "He has a proven track record building trust and teamwork among leadership, working well with employed and partner physicians, improving operating margins, increasing employee satisfaction and ensuring each patient receives the highest level of quality of care."

Kilarski has a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and a master's degree from Ohio State University.

FirstHealth operates hospitals in Moore, Montgomery and Richmond counties, as well as specialty care clinics.
