Think the gas prices are bad in North Carolina? Take a look at the gas temperature map at Gas Buddy and you might end up feeling a lot better -- or worse, depending on where you look! The map's at http://www.gasbuddy.com/gb_gastemperaturemap.aspx .
The map shows all the US counties (there's a map for Canada too) which are color-coded depending on how much gas costs in that county. The map colors range from green for less than $3.55 a gallon to dark red for more than $4.03.
It takes just a quick glance at the map to see where the expensive states are -- New York and California -- but it's surprising to see that South Carolina is an oasis of green counties in a sea of mostly yellow. The gas tax must make a heck of a difference.
Looking at North Carolina, it's mostly yellow with one orange county (Chatham) and one green county wayyyy off in the mountains. (Mitchell). Want to zoom in? Double-click to zoom, then right-click on a county to get prices for that area. If you zoom in close enough you'll be able to get prices for individual gas stations.
Scooters are looking better all the time. Or perhaps roller skates...
