Internet ideas for Earth Day

Happy Earth Day! You can tell it's Earth Day because Google's has a Google Doodle up. If you're at a bit of a loss on how to celebrate, WikiHow is here to help you out with some Earth Day celebration ideas.

I wandered over the Instructables.com to see if it had any ideas for recycling and there were more than ideas, there was a contest! The contest is actually running until June 8, so I'm sure there will be a lot more added to the site, but at the moment the "Green Science Fair For a Better Planet" has over 50 entries, including how to build a 72-volt electric motorcycle, how to turn plastic bags into loons, and how to make a butter pen. (You'll have to visit the Web site for that one.)

Lifehacker, another one of my fave sites, has an Earth Day article that's just focused on your computer. Easy Ways to Go Green With Your Computer covers saving energy with the computer itself, printing more efficiently, and managing the power in those pesky peripherals. Great ideas.

Of course after a long day of saving the Earth you might be ready to kick back and take it easy. What better way to end the day than with a movie? MSN Green is offering a free download of the Academy Award-nominated movie The Living Sea from now through April 25th. If you go to http://green.msn.com/Articles/article.aspx?aid=359 you'll get more information about the movie (narrated by Meryl Streep, music by Sting) and where to download it. If you download it from Amazon Unbox to your PC it should take only about 20 minutes to get -- but if you want to download it to your TiVo it'll take more like 90 minutes. Other download options are available, including Cinemanow and Bittorrent.
