Well, we got through the Iowa caucus, but there are still weeks and weeks of primaries ahead. New Hampshire's up next, but after that? ...
... I didn't know. That's why I was happy to find that Congressional Quarterly has released the CQ Politics 2008 Primary Guide, available at http://innovation.cq.com/primaries .
The primary guide starts with a map of the US and a highlighted list of states where primaries/caucuses are taking place this month. You can also click on a state and get a popup list of information about when the primary for that state is being held as well as how many delegates from each party with represent the state. (I didn't know that some states were losing delegates for violating party scheduling rules.)
There are also separate Democrat and Republican primary listings by state with a little bit of extra information about how the candidates get delegates. In Alaska, for example, delegates are allocated proportionally with a 15 percent threshold. If you're not interested in the national election, there's also a list of congressional primary elections broken down by state.
I was enthusiastic to see that this site also has a list of newspaper media coverage for each state, but it's very incomplete and doesn't include many papers at all. (In my next blog post I'll show you how to create much more extensive news feeds -- even ones pointed at the candidates of your choice!)
Because this 2008 the site also offers a couple of political blogs (plogs) with the promise of more to come on each primary/caucus night. A great place to get a schedule and overview!
