Cheap Gas Seven Days a Week
If you watch WRAL in the mornings you have probably seen Cheap Gas Tuesday and Thursday, which talks about cheap gas in the Triangle. And if you've found a real great place for inexpensive fuel, you can post your thoughts at a WRAL forum.
But what if you're going on a road trip across the state or across the country? You might want to go beyond WRAL's cheap gas lookout to one of the Internet resources that points you to cheap gas.
Yahoo actually has "search shortcuts" for finding cheap gas. Go to http://www.yahoo.com/ and type gas, then the zip code for which you want to get cheap gas prices (gas 90210 for example) and Yahoo will link you to a site called GasBuddy.
Or you could just Go directly to GasBuddy. From there you can search by state or zip code. Gasbuddy will point you to one of their local sites, like RaleighGasPrices.com. The home page of this site gives you the highest and lowest gas prices in the area (as I'm writing this, looks like the lowest prices are in Clayton, while the highest prices are scattered all over the place.) The site relies on people reporting in gas prices, so don't take these prices as ironclad guarantees, but the lists of prices are good guidelines for finding pockets of cheap and expensive gas. While you're on this site, don't miss the fuel-related news and links on the lower left part of the page.
