Where we are, where we've been in CNBC's Top Business States ranking.

Take the recently announced CNBC America's Top State For Business rankings that were released Wednesday. "North Carolina Jumps to No. 5" heralded the news release from the N.C. Department of Commerce. Here's where North Carolina ranked in previous CNBC listings: 2015 -- 9th; 2014 -- 5th; 2013 -- 12th; 2012 -- 4th; 2011 -- 3rd; 2010 -- 10th; 2009 -- 9th; 2008 -- 6th; 2007 -- 5th.
