Nash school bus overturns; no serious injuries reported
Six students and a school bus driver were taken to a hospital early Wednesday after the bus overturned on Boddie Mill Pond Road in Nash County, school system officials said.

No serious injuries were reported. The driver, Domenick Terrell Battle, and six students were taken to Nash General Hospital as a precaution.
Two other students aboard the bus were picked up by their parents and taken to school.
Officials said Battle, 24, was driving the students to Nashville Elementary School when he lost control and ran off the road about 7:30 a.m.
Battle was suspended with pay pending an investigation. Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools Superintendent Anthony Jackson said the suspension is standard procedure for school bus drivers who are cited while on duty.
"Mr. Battle is fully cooperating in the investigation, and we appreciate all that he did for the students in the immediate aftermath of the accident," Jackson said in a statement.
He also praised Nashville Elementary Principal Sharon Huneycutt and school nurse Misti Phillips for taking care of students at the scene and contacting parents.
"They are to be commended for a job well done," he said. "We are fortunate that this was not more serious."
