Burlington man faces child sex charges

A Burlington man faces accusations that he sexually abused a young girl for several years, police said.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A Burlington man faces accusations that he sexually abused a young girl for several years, police said.

Social Services requested on Friday that Burlington police look into allegations of molestation by Alfredo Valerio Lieja, 33. Police said an investigation turned up evidence "to confirm the allegation."

Lieja was charged Saturday with three counts each of first-degree sex offense, indecent liberties with a child and sex offenses. He was given a $300,000 secured bond.
