Burlington man charged with trying to shoot, stab man

A 45-year-old Burlington man has been charged with trying to shoot and stab another man Thursday night.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A 45-year-old Burlington man has been charged with trying to shoot and stab another man Thursday night.

Police said that Tony Lynn Morrow and Marcus Burnette Jr., of Greensboro, got into an altercation at Murrow's house at 1404 Jackson St. in Burlington shortly after 9 p.m.

Although Murrow pulled out a knife and fired a handgun at Burnette, he was uninjured, police said. Some of Burnette's personal property was damaged.

Morrow was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts each of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and injury to personal property and one count each of discharging a firearm in city limits and possession of cocaine.

Police said they were continuing to investigate the incident.

Murrow was placed in the Alamance County jail under an $80,000 secured bond.

He has previous convictions for driving while impaired, according to state Department of Correction records.
