Burglary reported at UNC residence hall

Posted July 4

— University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill police are investigating a burglary that happened early Friday morning at a residence hall.

A resident told investigators someone entered her room at Granville Towers East and took money after she went to sleep at around 2 a.m. She awoke around 7 a.m. to find her room door open and her purse and wallet on the hallway floor outside her room, police said.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call 911 or Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.

Police advise students to keep room doors locked at all times and to not allow strangers to “piggy-back” through entrances to any campus building. Anyone seeing suspicious activity on or near campus should immediately call 911.
