Bullets Strike Durham Bus

Several bullets struck a public bus during a shooting near a Durham park Thursday evening.

DURHAM, N.C. — Several bullets struck a Durham Area Transit Authority bus during a shooting near a park Thursday evening, police said.

Police received calls about a shooting in Walltown Park, at 1300 West Club Blvd., shortly after 5:38 p.m. When officers arrived, several juveniles ran from the park area, saying that someone was shooting in the park.

About 13 people on a DATA bus heard the shots and took cover, while the bus driver drove to a safer location. Once there, the driver found several bullet holes in the bus, police said.

No one was injured during the shooting.

Police did not know the motive or name any suspects. The Criminal Investigation Division was picking up the case.
