FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon after being grazed in the head by a bullet during a shooting at a gas station on Clinton Road, police said.

Officers responded to the Day & Nite III convenience store, at 1711 Clinton Road, at about 2:30 p.m.

Investigators said the shooting happened after two groups of people got into an altercation outside the station. A man pumping gas was grazed by a bullet in the shooting, and he was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. His name has not been released.

A gray Acura at the scene had two bullet holes in the windshield. The car was owned by the victim's sister, Elizabeth Smith. She said the suspect jumped in the car and tried to drive away.

"All I know is he pulled out a gun out his pants, and he just started shooting everywhere," Smith said.

The people involved in the shooting left the area on foot. Officers were searching the area near the gas station following the incident.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call the Fayetteville Police Department Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
