— Gunshots fired near Durham Regional Hospital Saturday night sent a bullet through the window of a fifth-story patient's room, police said.

No one was injured, and the room was unoccupied at the time, a hospital spokesperson said.

Durham police said officers responded to a call of "shots fired" at 800 Stadium Drive about 9:50 p.m. The location is directly across from the hospital at 3643 N. Roxboro Road.

A 19-year-old man told officers he was outside a party when shots were fired at him from a vehicle and he was struck in the leg. He was taken to Durham Regional with minor injuries.

Be careful in North Raleigh - Meth labs in homes!! That is like saying all of Durham is bad - I have always lived in Durham and really enjoy it - love all the new restaurants without all the Raleigh traffic!!

Willd wild west of DURHAM, we should call it, shootings nearly every day and killings at least 2 or 3 times a week, such a fine town to live in and rasie your familiy, just stay in doors, or you might be next in the drive by! Not even safe in hospital,, focus Durham police, Focus!

oh and by the way, enjoy living in your bubbles (all you Durham bashers) because god help us if you have to move to a big city and OH NO!, so much violent crime, ahhh!

  • ginny159 Aug 13, 2012

@rwest134: Durham has a gang problem, but not just gangs, a HUGE drug problem. But, like most cities, there is crime and there will be violence. Durham just happens to have the most coverage. How about all those bodies being discovered in Wake County? There are places in Raleigh I wouldn't go, just as there are places in Durham I wouldn't go; take the good with the bad folks and stop bashing a city. Try to make it better, trolls.

I don't know much about Durham except that I seem to get lost every time I attempt to drive from one side of town to the other (probably my fault) but it does seem that there is an unusual amount of violence in the town. I wonder why?

CONTROL YOURSELVES PEOPLE or the government will try to control you by taking your guns.

Preaching to the choir. Besides, the people who do this sort of thing are:

    1. Convinced that they are justified either by the law of the jungle, or the law of justified use of force. Or,

    2. They don't care about anybody, or anything but themselves.

In the latter case, they will never see your post. In the former case, they may never see your post. I doubt the government will ever try to take the guns away, but they may make guns and ammunition harder to get, and/or use.

Of course, the bad guys will always have theirs, and there is some question about most politicians who are trying to get rid of your ability to protect yourself. Maybe some of them are bad guys?!?

Really! How many do you suppose are flying around at any given time?
