Editor's Note: Jessica Green of Bull City Craft in Durham shares this easy holiday craft to keep kids busy during the holiday weekend. See our holiday craft page for more.

Every week at Playcraft, our drop-in creative play space for kids ages one and up, we have a different special craft. We come up with ideas based on materials we have or we search Pinterest for new projects. This one is a recent favorite. We found the original idea at Scholastic.

Ice Skates

Materials needed

Colored paper
Markers or crayons
Craft Sticks
Sequins, glitter, or other decorations

Draw a boot shape with two skinny rectangular tabs extending from the bottom (see image).

Cut out boot and tabs.

Decorate boot with crayons, markers, sequins, or glitter.

Glue and fold tabs around craft stick to form the ice skate blade.

Repeat to make a pair of ice skates!
