RALEIGH, N.C. — Fire crews ordered students and faculty out of two classroom buildings on Wake Tech's Raleigh campus Monday afternoon after fire alarms sounded.

Firefighters responded to a report of two people stuck in an elevator in the school's Math and Science Building just after 2 p.m. Those people were rescued, but while fire crews were on campus, people complained to campus police about a strange odor in that building. A fire alarm sounded at about 2:30 p.m.

A few minutes later, alarms sounded in the Administration Building. Both buildings were evacuated for about an hour before the all-clear was sounded. Classes resumed just before 4 p.m.

The cause of the problem was not released, but a campus spokeswoman said the danger had passed.
