HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Building plans submitted to the Town of Holly Springs show a grocery store that some say has the characteristics of a Wegmans.

The submitted development plan is for a Lowe’s home improvement store at Ralph Stevens Road that would be attached to a planned grocery store.

Although the grocery store is not named in the documents, the renderings show a clock tower that is typically included in building designs for all Wegmans stores. Additionally, the color scheme shown in the rendering matches the chain’s tan-and-maroon color scheme.

According to the documents, the proposed grocery store would be about 99,000 square feet in size.

A Wegmans spokeswoman said she could not comment on a proposed site until a lease or purchase agreement has been negotiated.

If the store turns out to be a Wegmans, it would be the sixth one planned for the Triangle.

A Wegmans slated to open this fall on Wake Forest Road in Raleigh began hiring and training for full-time positions last month. The other four stores will be in Cary, Wake Forest and Chapel Hill.

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., is a 98-store supermarket chain with stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts.
