— A high school in coastal Brunswick County has been placed on lockdown because a suspicious person has been seen in the area, school officials say.

North Brunswick High School, 114 Scorpion Drive in Leland, was placed under lockdown around 9:30 a.m., said Stephanie Jackson, public-information officer for Brunswick County Schools.

Law-enforcement officers are on the scene.

Jackson said parents would be called, informing them about the situation.

Praying for them all, and praying for their parents to stay calm. The kids are safe inside the school.

To be sure you really don't think like this!

Two arrests have been made for trespassing, according to wect.com. Nothing to be overly concerned about.

Thanks for the inside story. That was brave of you to tell us all what is going on. May someone get a description of the criminal and maybe the courts will be able to put him away when found guilty for 35 years. Schools are no longer a safe place for students even though their are officers on every campus. How sad. I feel blessed and honored at the school I went to and graduated from. There were no trouble and certainly no officers were around. Thanks to my old teachers and principal. You did an outstanding job for us all.

    Hello,

I am sitting in this school right now. I am in the computer lab reporting live. Earlier this morning, while in Geometry class, a young man walked onto the campus holding a axe. While he was walking onto the campus, a white car quickly pulled up, with three passengers in the building. The young man raised the axe, as if he was going to break the window open. He stopped as he heard the intercom come over announcing a lockdown. The classrooms came to a hush as everybody hurridly moved to the corner nearest the door (opposite of the window). The school stayed in the lockdown mode for a good 30-45 minutes. Many students just arriving at school at 10 or so had to sit in the back of the numerous police cars outside the front entrance. The young man ran off the campus while throwing up many gang signs. The school is now in a very scary state. Many of us worried that the armed man will return for revenge.
