MALIBU, CALIF. — Authorities say paparazzi were following Bruce Jenner when he became involved in a four-vehicle crash in Malibu that killed a woman, but there's no indication he was being chased.

Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Philip Brooks says Jenner was aware of the celebrity photographers following him Saturday but he wasn't trying to get away from them.

Jenner was an occupant of one of four vehicles involved in the crash on Pacific Coast Highway. He wasn't hurt, but seven other people suffered minor to moderate injuries.

Brooks says Jenner cooperated with investigators and did not appear intoxicated.

The crash comes at a time of widespread talk that the Olympic gold medalist and Kardashian family patriarch is transitioning to become a woman.
