Brothers charged in cousin's murder

Durham, N.C. — Durham police have charged two brothers with fatally shooting and stabbing their cousin early Thursday in the apartment complex where he lived.
Officers responded to calls about shots being fired at 1737 E. Cornwallis Road around 1:20 a.m. Police said they found Marcelino Espinosa Guzman, 25, lying beside a dumpster in the parking lot.
Guzman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he had been shot and stabbed.
While they were driving to the scene, Officers K.T. Williams and J.J. Kenyon saw a man matching the suspect description run out of the woods near Fayetteville and Belgreen roads. Officers apprehended him and a second man in the area, police said.
Isai Espinosa Ramirez, 23, of Exacta Lane in Raleigh, and Abel Espinosa Ramirez, 21, of Southpoint Crossing Drive in Durham, were charged with murder. They were being held in the Durham County Jail without bond.
Authorities haven't commented on a motive for the slaying.
