SILER CITY, N.C. — Two brothers were arrested Thursday after they were involved in a hit-and-run that injured a woman in Siler City, Chatham County authorities said.

Robert Stewart III, 26, was arguing with his ex-girlfriend, Toni Brown, outside their home at 242 Joe Fox Road, deputies said.

Stewart was in a truck driven by his brother, Christopher Stewart, 20, of 672 East Greensboro Road in Snow Camp. When the men pulled away, they ran over Brown, according to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office. Deputies had not determined whether that was intentional or accidental.

Brown was airlifted to UNC Hospitals, where she was listed in fair condition Friday.

Deputies charged both men with hit-and-run and assault. Christopher Stewart was released on $2,500 bond. Robert Stewart was in custody on $500 secured bond. They are scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on September 14.
