Broadway bank robbed

A man walked into a BB&T branch on South Main Street in Broadway at about 10:45 a.m., demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said.

BROADWAY, N.C. — Authorities were searching for a man who robbed a bank in Broadway on Friday morning.

A man walked into a BB&T branch on South Main Street at about 10:45 a.m., demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

The robber was described as a black man in his 40s who was about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a green jacket, white shirt, burgundy tie, khaki pants, knit hat and gloves.

Nearby Broadway Elementary School was locked down for a while after the robbery.
