FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Hundreds of British soldiers joined the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg Wednesday as part of a special forces training.

The British paratroopers are training with the 82nd's 2nd Brigade Combat Team to prepare for a major joint training exercise in April.

While many of their combat tactics are the same, several pieces of equipment are different.

"The biggest difference for my section has been the tripod," said Staff Sgt. Roland Fielder. "We have a lighter, modular version of it, and they have an older, heavier version."

The parachutes the paratroopers use are also different, but the soldiers say the results are essentially the same.

"There's a lot more aircraft here, so they got a lot of us out the door yesterday, which was quite good. Obviously, we're all paratroopers, we like to get on the ground fast," said Cpl. Carl Thompson.

When asked about the fight against ISIS, the soldiers said they want to come together.

"We're preparing for whatever the next threat might be, whether that's ISIS or something further down the road," said Cpt. Eric Simpson.
