Brief power outage hits RDU

Posted December 22, 2014

— An hourlong power outage hit Raleigh-Durham International Airport early Monday, but officials said the problem did not delay flights.

An RDU spokeswoman said the airport used backup generators, and planes were taking off and landing on time.

A spokesman from Duke Energy said the outage happened about 6:45 a.m. when some underground electrical equipment that serves the airport failed. Repairs were made and power was restored about 7:40 a.m.

I have a friend who works at the airport. He said planes were grounded.

They posted that comment before the article reported what happened. It makes sense what happened now.

Why do you not? It said some equipment failed. You want the effect location? You want to know exactly what element on what piece of hardware failed?

I understand the reason for this outage so much better now. (not!)
