MICHIGAN — The Michigan National Guard has turned around its troops after the State of Florida said it didn't need extra help handing the effects of Hurricane Irma.

Word came late this morning of the news, causing some convoys to turn around, although the majority of the units had not left yet.

The Michigan National Guard was prepared to send a thousand troops to the Sunshine State to help with the clean-up.

Lt. Col. Dawn Dancer with the Michigan National Guard said she credits the Florida National Guard for being prepared, along with the lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina.

Dancer told TV5 that the Michigan National Guard is monitoring the situation and is ready to help if the situation changes.
