Bragg soldier killed in Fayetteville apartment

Fayetteville, N.C. — An 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper was fatally shot Friday morning, and Fayetteville police are treating the case as a homicide, authorities said Monday.
Sgt. Christopher Mark Lewis Irvin, 23, of Statesboro, Ga., was killed at the Cambridge Arms Apartments complex off North McPherson Church Road, authorities said.
Details of the shooting weren't released.
Irvin was a vehicle maintenance shop foreman with the 508th Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team. He had been assigned to Fort Bragg since April 2006 and was deployed to Afghanistan from January 2007 until last April.
Irvin is survived by his wife, Shakarie D. Irvin, and son, Christopher Mark Lewis Irvin Jr., both of Fort Stewart, Ga.; and his mother, Andretta M. Golden, of Statesboro, Ga.
