Bragg soldier killed in Afghanistan

A Fort Bragg-based soldier was killed Wednesday in Afghanistan, the Defense Department said Thursday.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — A Fort Bragg-based soldier was killed Wednesday in Afghanistan, the Defense Department said Thursday.

Cpl. Nicholas H. Olivas, 20, of Fairfield, Ohio, was fatally wounded when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to 4th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.
