Bragg soldier charged with rape

Posted September 9, 2010

— A Fort Bragg soldier has been charged with raping a Fayetteville woman, police said Thursday.

Staff Sgt. Shawn Michael Webb, 30, was charged Tuesday with second-degree rape and driving while impaired. He was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond.

A 21-year-old woman told investigators that she was sexually assaulted inside Webb's Fayetteville home on July 31 after they had met at a bar, police said. The DWI charge was from an unrelated traffic stop on July 25, according to court records.

Webb joined the Army in August 1999 and came to Fort Bragg in May 2002. He is assigned to the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.

I wonder why it took her until now to say she was raped? Why didn't she report it immediately?

I undertstand no means No! These are not teenagers, they know what meeting in a bar after a few drinks may lead to. How do you get charged later with a offense you commited earlier ? That's a new one....

Have you all forgotten the Duke Lacrosse case so soon. Women DO lie about getting raped and sexually assaulted. This man is innocent until proven guilty. It is another case of he said / she said. If they had hard and fast evidence his bail would not be $25,000.

Why does anyone ask what this world is coming to? The answer is right here.

Many cannot see the real picture let alone themselves. While others can. Crime will continue in this society until we all learn behavior and respect of other as well as yourself.

You certainly don't blame the rape victims which is what you're doing.

Rape victims?? I believe we are speaking about this particulat case in this story and non other. Stop stirring up unnecessary stuff.

I have not interest in counseling you. You may want to try Dorthea Dix.

Just call Dorthes Dix and they are happy to except you under the circumstances. Any way I am not blaming her or anyone. Just reread the story. Do you think she may have lied? Its possible. Oh, my daughter would never pick up a scum in bar much less off the streets. Then they would be asking for it too. How come the girl did get someone off the street under the bridge? Things do happen and will handle it to the best of our ability if it does. God blesses me and my family every day and I hope the same for you.

Mileage, I can't believe these posts either. This is our jury pool and we wonder why there is so much crime in the world, particularly predator crimes against women and children.
Shame on you people, you must live depraved, scummy lives and decent people would not be safe in your company. You all seem to be drooling. Why does anyone ask what this world is coming to? The answer is right here.

No one ever blames the woman, its always the man. So men should start thinking and ask themselves is this woman worth it? Picking up a woman or man in a bar is really not idea.
