Bragg brigade to deploy to Afghanistan
Army officials notified the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade Monday that it will deploy to Afghanistan next spring, officials said.
Posted — UpdatedFORT BRAGG, N.C. — Army officials notified the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade Monday that it will deploy to Afghanistan next spring, officials said.
The 82nd CAB includes about 2,800 troops and provides a range of helicopter capabilities – attack, assault, reconnaissance, medical evacuation, cargo, command and control and airspace management.
Units in the brigade have deployed four times to Iraq and three times to Afghanistan since 9/11, most recently returning from Afghanistan in February.
