CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A 6-year-old boy was in critical condition at UNC Hospital Tuesday after he nearly drowned at the Governor's Club pool near Chapel Hill.

The boy went under and was pulled out by a lifeguard on Monday. Foul play is not suspected, authorities said.

The Chatham County Health Department is investigating, which is standard protocol in a near-drowning case.
