Boy, oh boy! Apex couple finally getting girl

Apex, N.C. — It's something parents hear all the time, but the news nearly knocked an Apex mom to her knees.
After having six boys, Cher Lair learned recently that her seventh child will be the family's first little girl, and her reaction to the news went viral.
"I knew our friends would care. I didn’t know anyone else would care," Lair said Thursday of the YouTube video from her "gender reveal" party.
She and her family didn't know what sex their new baby was until they cut into a cake.
"I prepared my boy face," she said.
But when she saw pink inside the cake, she screamed and collapsed on the floor.
"(We) certainly weren’t trying for a girl, didn’t think that was in the cards," she said, calling herself "a boy mama."
"I just figured we’re the boy people, which we’re great with. We’re boy crazy," she said. "Once I see a girl, I will believe, 'OK, sure.' Even then, I don’t know what it means. I don’t know what to do with a girl."
Lair said her sons have already informed her they don't want pink around the house, and some have threatened to move out if a girl does show up in late August.
"They also have no idea what they’re talking about. Once a girl shows up, I think they will be head over heels," she said.
As for the newest addition, she predicted her daughter will become "either a tomboy or the queeniest little queen of all queens."
She said she always wanted a daughter because she cherishes her relationship with her mother and wanted something similar for herself.
Lair and her husband might not be done with their growing family, either.
"We’re not trying; we’re not not trying" for more children," she said. "We are open because we did not plan any of this, and we have been shocked and blessed every step. God is no dummy, and he hasn’t messed up yet."
