WRAL News

Durham police said a 3-year-old boy wandered away from home Sunday morning and was found near a bus stop on Chapel Hill Road.

Officers said the boy had a mail key in his pocket when he was discovered about 9:15 a.m. It took police about three hours to determine he lives in Colonial Apartments, behind the bus stop.

Police said the boy’s parents were not aware that he was missing until they notified them. He was being watched by a teenager, but it wasn’t clear whether the teen was a relative.

The incident is being investigated by the Department of Social Services.

Remember parents, teenagers are not that responsible. They are not parents, and many could care less, they just want the money. So be absolutely sure who keeps your child. Make it always safe for your child. Don't just get anybody, whether its family, friend or a complete stranger. Know who is around your child and responsible as if it was theirs.

The parents is very responsible in all of this. They should have gotten a teenager/person they could fully trust. Obviously they could not trust this particular teenager ever again. This child could have been killed. Then what? Make the right choice in who keeps your child when you cannot.
