ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police are trying to identify two men who ran down and shot at a 14-year-old and 18-year-old Saturday night, wounding the younger teen.

The 14-year-old told police that two men wearing all black clothing got out of a dark-colored car and began shooting at him and Cortez Sykes in the 600 block of Glendale Avenue around 10:30 p.m. He and Sykes were running down the road when he realized that he had been shot, the boy told police.

Sykes wasn't injured.

Police said the 14-year-old was shot in the upper left chest and right leg. He was taken to Nash General Hospital, then transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. Police said his condition was stable.

Neither victim was able to describe the suspects or offer a motive for the shooting, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
