Bond set for Sanford man charged in girlfriend's death

Edward Donald Rivera, 21, of 601 Barnes St., is charged with first-degree murder in the April 26 stabbing of Dana Shorb, 17, who was found dead in the shower of her home.

SANFORD, N.C. — A $1 million bond was set Wednesday for a Sanford man charged in the death of his teenage girlfriend.

Edward Donald Rivera, 21, of 601 Barnes St., is charged with first-degree murder in the April 26 stabbing of Dana Shorb, 17, who was found dead in the shower of her home at 210 Bounty Lane, which she then shared with Rivera and their child.

An autopsy showed Shorb died of a stab wound to the chest. She was also stabbed in the arms, head, neck and chest 11 times.

Rivera is due back in court in October.
