ROLESVILLE, N.C. — Tests showed no contamination of the water system in Rolesville, officials said Friday, so they rescinded an advisory issued Thursday for people to boil their water.

A road crew working at the intersection of U.S. Highway 401 and Burlington Mills Road accidentally hit a 12-inch water main Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Although only five customers were left without water, officials said a drop in water pressure across Rolesville could have allowed bacteria into the system.
