Garner, N.C. — Raleigh city officials are advising residents in the Forest Landing neighborhood in Garner to boil their water before consumption because of the possibility of bacterial contamination.

Officials said Tuesday that a water main break has affected potable water service to the neighborhood, near the intersection of Benson Road and Foxbury Drive. The break of the 12-inch main happened about 3 p.m. Monday and affects about 130 customers.

The break has been repaired, but the advisory is in place because of the potential for contamination from cross-connections or back siphonage, officials said. Samples tested so far have not found any contamination.

Residents should bring water to a full boil for about one minute before use for drinking or cooking. Infants and pregnant women are advised to drink bottled water.
