GARNER, N.C. — The body of James Hipp, whose disappearance prompted a four-day search at Lake Benson Park in Garner, has been found.

Garner police said Wednesday that they believe Hipp, 26, committed suicide.

Officers had been searching the park since before dawn Monday, when they found HIpp’s car at the entrance to the park. Evidence in the car that gave them reason to believe Hipp wanted to harm himself.

Hipp’s body was found by a Wake County sheriff’s deputy who was searching by boat. The body will be sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Hipp lived with his parents on Pamela Drive in Raleigh.
