— The body of a 25-year-old Benson man who went missing while fishing near Sneads Ferry last week was found Sunday, Onslow County officials said.

Sheriff's officials said the body of Joshua Hughes was found on the shore a couple of miles from where he fell in the water near the New River Inlet April 22.

Hughes was fishing for flounder with a friend when rough waters tipped their boat. The other man, whose name was not released, was able to cut a buoy loose to float to shore and call 911. Hughes disappeared in the water.

Neither man was wearing a life vest.
