— The body of a 41-year-old man was found Tuesday evening beside a trash bin at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on East Rosemary Street in Chapel Hill.

Officers found Jason Henry Myrick, of 100 W. Rosemary St., was found at about 4:30 p.m. Police said there were no indications of foul play.

No further information was immediately available.

Some students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill were upset that an alert was not sent out by campus police. The church is located a few blocks from campus.

School officials said an alert was not sent out because it was determined there was no threat to the school.

Anyone with information should call the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760.

Viewer, I am going to assume you are commenting out of a lack of full information, not out of spite. UNC-CH has a long-established Campus Alert system which sends out e-mails and text messages to students about alleged crimes and other potentially risky circumstances on and in the vicinity of campus, including the Franklin Street area. This church is only one block from campus.

"Some students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill were upset that an alert was not sent out by campus police."
Get a life guys! Do the Chapel Hill police typically notify students about deaths in the community?

Maybe these students should sign up for news alerts if they want to know about the outside world?

This is so sad. I wonder why, if the police don't suspect foul play, they're requesting anyone with information call the police. If they don't suspect foul play, it must have been natural causes or self-inflicted. The confusion with the wording of the article may be what has worried the UNC students. RIP Mr. Myrick.

    Thank you MISSDAWG.

NCGUY: Thank you for your apology, I just feel like people need to think before they speak, its a concept a lot of people have lost in the last few years.

Ok, NCGUY, really, did you even take any consideration for any of his family and friends?? He was a part of my family, and we are very saddened by the loss of Jason.

    Must be a Democrat.
