Body found on Eno River in Durham

Posted November 4, 2008

— The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of a man found Monday near the Eno River in Durham.

A hiker in the Eno River State Park discovered the body of Judge Thomas Johnson, 40, near the Guess Road Bridge along the Laurel Bluffs Trail Monday.

Johnson's body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy. Neither police nor the SBI have provided any further details about the case.

The discovery of Johnson's body comes after two shooting deaths in Durham on Sunday.

Henry Jamel May, 30, of Old Well Street died following a shooting at Gary and Quincy Streets Sunday evening. Ernesto Allen, 27, of Gray Avenue died following a shooting on Dowd Street.

Police urge anyone with information about either of the shootings to call Durham Crime Stoppers at 683-1200 or the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4440.

We need more info than his name like where he lived and maybe a picture would help. I would like to know if I have seen the guy around town or maybe seen him with someone on video somewhere?????

Ok thanks you all, I was wondering if he was a Judge. Regardless it's too bad, yet another life needlessly cut short. It's scary for me personally because they keep finding bodies closer and closer to my home in Northern Durham all the time. Hopefully the new Durham Police department's satellite location at Roxoburo and Latta will have a positive impact on the area. Don't just hope for Durham please pray for Durham. Thanks.

He is not a Judge, that was his first name.

  • bronzegoddess40 Nov 4, 2008

No I don't know the name unless his first name is "Judge" instead of it being his position.

WRAL how does a body found 10 miles upstream from downtown and not even stating it was a homicide tie in to the two other killings? Typical wral Durham story
