Body found in Wake County home

Posted October 6, 2010

— Wake County deputies searching a home north of Raleigh on Wednesday evening found a body found inside, the sheriff said.

Investigators have been searching for David Green Jr., of 8617 Ray Road, since early September when a family member reported him missing.

They returned to his home for more clues Wednesday and made a grisly discovery.

"That's when we discovered an odor and did find a body in the house," said Sheriff Donnie Harrison.

He wouldn't say if the body was Green or where the body was in the house.

Authorities said they were treating the case as a homicide investigation.

Neighbors said they haven't seen Green in several weeks, and that recently "No Trespassing" signs appeared on the property.

Green's 17-year-old daughter, who also lives at the home, was arrested in July on burglary charges. She has been in the Wake County jail since Sept. 16 on failure to appear and contempt of court charges.

Deputies have worked with family members and neighbors in the search for David Green, Harrison said.

"We've been contacting witnesses, anybody that we can. We weren't making any headway, so we came back out with (the City-County Bureau of Identification) and the family to take some pictures and see what kind of evidence we could find and so forth, (and) we found a body in the house."

The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for a positive identification and to determine a cause of death.

"...and that recently "No Trespassing" signs appeared on the property."

They haven't released the identity of the body. I'm betting the body is not the homeowner. And that the homeowner put up the signs to buy him some time to skip town.

This is so disturbing! How can you not search the home if someone is reported missing??

  • Wolfheel Tarpack Oct 6, 2010

It said they went back to the house ... wouldn't say where the body was in relation to the house ... decomposition starts soon after death and is well under way in three days, thus the missing person timing and the finding of the body obviously don't compute well. They've declared it a homoside for a reason ... suspected foul play.

Sheriff didn't say whether the body was the missing person--male or female--and last month could've been last Thursday.

the people - "Sit back all you got to do,this maybe easier than you thought!!!!"

    Good grief!!!

What got you all stirred up???

A man is dead, yet instead of showing compassion for his family, you're spouting garbage about an election?

    Totally inappropriate!!!

    God bless.

To my knowledge, the police cannot simply go to a house and kick a door down.

There is a "probably cause" clause, but I'm not sure it's germaine to a missing person.

    God bless.

"report was filed last month." That could be as few as 6 days ago. It could be that he wasn't there when the report was filed or there wasn't enough evidence for the deputies to just ram through his door. Without a family member present and/or evidence that the person is there & in trouble, LEOs can't just enter a house (see that little thing called the 4th amendment). Still, a very sad situation, my thoughts & prayers to his/her family

I am with you gopowell, would you not think that if you had a missing person, you might want to check the residence?
