Body found in Sampson County house fire

According to the Sampson County's Sheriff's Office, firefighters responded to a report of a house fire in the 100 block of Irwin Road at 8:26 p.m. Sunday.

AUTRYVILLE, N.C. — One woman is dead following a house fire in Autryville on Sunday night.

According to the Sampson County’s Sheriff’s Office, firefighters responded to a report of a house fire in the 100 block of Irvin Road at 8:26 p.m. Sunday.

Sampson County authorities say firefighters found the body of 56-year-old Cheryl Jackson after the fire was extinguished.

Jackson's sister-in-law, who lives across the street and was her caregiver, said Jackson's five cats also died in the fire. The cause of the blaze is undetermined.
