FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Detectives from Fayetteville police's major-crimes unit were investigating the death of a woman found inside a Fayetteville hotel room Friday.

The woman, whom authorities said was elderly, was found inside the Fairfield Inn at Cross Creek Mall around 12:45 p.m. She did not have a pulse.

EMS crews were called to the scene in an attempt to revive her, but they were unsuccessful.

Police did not say what the cause of her death was, but called it suspicious.

The woman's name has been withheld, pending notification of relatives.

On June 21, the body of Army Spc. Megan Lynn Touma was in the Fairfield Inn. Touma, 23, was seven months' pregnant.
