— A wreck with a Triangle Transit Authority bus injured the driver of a BMW station wagon on Spring Forest Road Monday morning, Raleigh police said.

Police said that the bus driver ran a red light going west on Spring Forest, and the bus hit the passenger side of the blue station wagon. The BMW was coming out of a neighborhood on Meadowview Drive shortly before 8 a.m.

Crews took the BMW driver to WakeMed to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured, police said.

One lane of Spring Forest was partially blocked, but traffic was flowing smoothly past.

After looking at the pictures I'm glad I drive a BMW. For the driver to have non-life threatening injuries after being hit in the door by a bus, that's an impressive testiment to the car.

Yep, one of the safest cars on the road. Handles well and from what I understand, the car crumples 'around' the cabin...thus giving some protection to the driver.

News must be light when they are reporting almost every car accident. It's more like gossip than news.

"The only relevance of the make of the car is that if the driver had been in most any other car they would have been killed. Look at the picture that has the fire fighter in the background. You can see the fully inflated side airbag/head protection. No doubt that saved the driver's life."

I agree that the type of car isn't relevant, but I thought your statement was interesting. You are aware that even Kias have side curtain airbags, right?

I agree with the people questioning why it is even relevant that it is a BMW. The only relevance of the make of the car is that if the driver had been in most any other car they would have been killed. Look at the picture that has the fire fighter in the background. You can see the fully inflated side airbag/head protection. No doubt that saved the driver's life.

Ah, that wasn't the passenger side of the beemer, unless it was imported from England or some place like that. Hope the driver is ok.

is like when you see "SUV injures 2 people on highway" never "compact sedan injures 2 people on highway" nevermind the fact that the VEHICLE didnt injur anyone and is likely human error or freak accident
