The Raleigh Farmers' Market will celebrate the little blue berry - the blueberry - at Blueberry Day on Thursday.

It's from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, at the market off Lake Wheeler Road near its intersection with Interstate 40. These events usually include some samples and recipes. Plus, farmers will have lots of blueberries for sale.

These are low key affairs that add a little extra activity beyond a usual trip to the market, a regular stop for my family.

And if you're looking around for recipes, the North Carolina Blueberry Council teamed up with Our State magazine to offer a big collection of blueberry recipes. Looking through the recipes, I'm not even sure where to start - blueberry cream cheese pound cake, blueberry bread, warmed brie with blueberry sauce ... the list goes on.

Peach Day is July 11.
