— Thieves stole the blue lights and sirens from two Fayetteville police cars that were awaiting maintenance this week, police said Friday.

Police warned people that the devices could be installed on another vehicle, allowing someone to impersonate an officer. If anyone who is stopped by a police car fears the person isn't really an officer, police said, they should ask to see the officer's credentials and call 911 to verify an officer's location.

People should notify 911 and report the make, model and license number of a car if they believe the occupants are impersonating law enforcement officers, police said.

Maybe if *** had cameras and the security guard wasn't stuck at the front gate sleeping most of the time, it would help prevent this as it started happening after they quit having a 3rd shift. The thieves are smart enough to know that.
Keep raising our electric bills to pay your raises for the CEO, but skip the surveillance and an extra guard for the back...really funny. Whatever...

"It seems silly to risk stealing from a cop car when you can just buy light bars and sirens online."

Yeah but that means that they'd have to pay for them...

Wow. They go to work everyday with a bullet proof vest on and a better than the average citizen chance of being assaulted by the drunk or drug addict of the day, and you think they have no idea what its like to have something bad happen?

Glad it happened. maybe they will get a little feeling of what it is like to have someone steel your property. Now they need to steel the DAs and Judges car so they will be a little more tough when it comes to dealing with these common thieves.
